Holiday in a Castle in South Tyrol – a stay within historic walls
Staying in a castle will awaken in many people memories of childhood fairy tales. Not far from Brixen the dream of staying in a castle combined with the beautiful surroundings of ancient trees and shady groves can be realised. We, the von Unterrichter family, have converted the south wing of our house into five holiday apartments. Each apartment has everything you will need and yet retains the touch of the historic past. Families which children and dogs are very welcome to come and stay within these ancient walls.
Castle holiday in South Tyrol: The flair of past centuries at Castle Campan
The castle has been in our family for five generations. The story behind this historic building started in the 13th Century. It was then the “Maierhof” (caretakers house) for the Bishop of Brixen. In 1860 Baron Karl von Unterrichter bought Campan Castle and built his family home on the site. After a very bad house fire in 1868 the castle was renovated in the style that can still be seen today. Remnants of the older castle can still be seen by the main entrance which bears the family coat of arms. The castle also has its own private chapel that can be used for weddings. Today the castle fits perfectly into its surroundings of organic apple orchards and vineyards.
